The Time It Takes

The Time It Takes, a SAY: AU short documentary, that follows 17-year-old Mitch and 14-year-old Pratham as they participate in SAY: AU's MY SHARE PROJECT - a 10 week creative arts program. The film ultimately encourages viewers to ask: what can we learn from the art of taking time to wait – and listening more?

The Stuttering Association For The Young Australia (SAY: AU)

ACKNOWLEDGES THE FIRST PEOPLES OF THE LANDS AND WATERS ON WHICH WE WORK,

CONNECT, AND PERFORM ACROSS AUSTRALIA.

We recognise their continuous connection to Country, community and culture and pay our respects to Elders past and present. We honour the sharing of traditional stories; stories that have been passed down through generations.

Welcome to SAY: AU

Through creative expression, at SAY: AU we empower, educate and support young people who stutter and the world that surrounds them. We use the arts to unlock young people who stutter's self-expression, confidence, and personal growth.

We foster a safe environment of creativity, empathy, inspiration, acceptance, deep-listening, and love that enables the expansion of possibility and for young people who stutter to be deeply heard and supported.

Our ultimate goal is helping young people who stutter learn that their voice matters, their voice deserves to be heard just like everybody else, and to know that it's really OK to stutter.

"Seeing any child give up on communicating is a tragedy that I, and everybody at SAY: AU, does not accept.

At SAY: AU we let young people who stutter know that 'It's Really OK to Stutter!'

In an atmosphere of kindness, belief in the young person, and support, we help young people who stutter to embrace their voices and dreams, to experience the reassurance and relief of connecting with others who stutter, to say the words that shouldn't go unsaid, and to live each day with courage instead of fear.

At SAY: AU, EVERY VOICE MATTERS!"

"SAY: Australia welcomed our son and our whole family as soon as we walked through the door on the very first day of programming. Mitchell always feels comfortable, safe, and supported when he’s at Confident Voices. We noticed almost immediately that Mitchell was much more confident and engaging with other people. SAY: Australia has given us a better understanding of stuttering and how to engage with more empathy towards our son. SAY: Australia has changed Mitchell’s life for the better in so many ways."

Jennifer & Jason - Parents

“I found it really increased my son Austin's confidence in speaking out when he knew others in the group also had a stutter. He was heard and felt valued.”

Dominique - Parent

‘We are so proud of our little gal and the whole team of SAY: Australia. Aaliyah took her SAY: Australia t-shirt to school and did show and tell. Aaliyah's confidence has grown so much.

Aaliyah’s teacher has said she is like a different child this term and she has had to move her 3 times because now she just keeps chatting to the other kids in the classroom! Thank you for everything!

Anita - Parent
